Safety Info

Snazaroo manufactures its products using all FDA compliant materials, packaging and processes. Snazaroo's factory and manufacturing procedures are also FDA compliant and have been inspected by appropriate federal staff.

Snazaroo face paints use no ingredients that do not meet cosmetic guidelines both in the United States and the European Community. For example: UV and Day glow pigments may be approved and used in German cosmetics but since they are banned by the USA FDA, Snazaroo does not use them. Glow in the dark pigments are approved in the USA but banned by cosmetic regulations in Europe, therefore Snazaroo does not use them.

Snazaroo paints also avoid ingredients that can substantially increase the risk of allergic reaction, such as fragrances. Snazaroo face paints were designed to be used on children, so Snazaroo takes every measure that their face paints are the safest face paints in the world.

All face paints can, on rare occasions, cause allergic reactions and the face paint should not be applied in the immediate eye area or to sensitive skin or to broken skin. If you are unsure about whether you will have a reaction to the face paint, a patch test is advised. Apply the face paint to the inside of the elbow. If a reaction occurs within 60 minutes, do not use.

Please Note: The US FDA recommends against using red, yellow, orange or purple face paints near the eyes and or using blue, green or purple face paints near the lips to avoid possible staining issues. On Neon Face Paints, avoid using around eyes and mouth.

Application & Removal Tips

Face Paints

How Do I Apply

Snazaroo Face Paints are water activated, they are meant to be mixed with water. When using a sponge or brush, add a small amount of water to the sponge or brush and mix it onto the Snazaroo cake of makeup. Practice to learn how much water Snazaroo paints need - too little and you'll see skin through the paint, too much and it may look streaky or bubbly. When using a sponge, apply Snazaroo like shoe polish until you have color coverage and then pat the sponge on the face for a nice even coat.

You will find variations in consistency between Snazaroo colors due to the different pigments used, so some colors (like green and orange) will need more water than white or black. That is normal.

For sensitive skin, Snazaroo suggests a twenty minute patch test before painting on the full face or body. For a patch test, properly apply Snazaroo paints to a one by two inch patch on the inside of the elbow. After twenty minutes, remove the paint with water only and wipe dry. Look for anything that might be of concern. Snazaroo is hypoallergenic and when used properly it is highly unlikely there will be any concern.

How Do I Remove
Snazaroo products wash off with mild soap and water. For best results, remove with a high quality baby wipe or baby shampoo, water and a wash cloth. Avoid using low cost baby wipes as these can be irritating to young children's skin.

To remove Snazaroo Sparkle face paint from clothing, wash by hand in cold water using soap or pre-washing agent. Do not try to remove the makeup from clothing in a washing machine. Avoid warm or hot water when trying to remove the paint from clothing. Avoid using near sensitive fabrics like silk that absorb pigments.

How Do I Apply
Use gentle pressure to avoid breaking the Snazaroo Face Painting Crayons. Also always hold the face paint crayons perpendicular to surface being colored. To achieve a blended look, you can drag your finger along a line.

How Do I Remove
To Remove From Skin:
Wash with soap and water or baby wipes. Work into face painted area for 15 to 20 seconds to loosen face paint makeup from the skin. Some traces of color may remain for a short period after washing.

To Remove From Fabric:
Avoid contact with fabric, carpet, and upholstery. In case of accidental contact, spot treat with baby shampoo, liquid dish soap or OxyClean-like product and help loosen the face paint makeup with a toothbrush. Do NOT add water until the soap had loosened the face paint makeup. Once the makeup is thoroughly loosened, add a small amount of warm water. Blot or wet vacuum the area. Repeat this process as necessary.

Note: Do not leave in direct sunlight, hot cars, or other hot places. To sharpen, put the face paint crayon in the refrigerator and use a normal pencil sharpener to sharpen.

How Do I Apply
Step 1: Mist the surface of your face paint with water or wet with sponge.

Step 2: Apply the paint to the face paint stamp by rubbing the stamp on the makeup or with a brush.

Step 3: Lightly touch the child's skin with the face paint stamp (do not press too hard). If you have too much face paint on the face paint stamp, touch the face paint stamp to a paper towel to reduce the amount of face paint.

Step 4: Paint details onto and around the design with a face paint brush, if desired.

How To Clean
Rinse the face paint stamp with water or clean the surface with a baby wipe.

Caring For Brushes:
When you are finished face painting, rinse your face painting brushes well in warm to hot water until you don't see any face paint. Dry the face painting brushes with a clean paper towel, wiping from the brush handle to the brush head then reshape the brush head with your fingers.

Let the Snazaroo Face Painting Brushes dry completely before you pack them away. When using soap to clean your face painting brushes, use a baby shampoo or gentle soap that is safe on young eyes. When storing your face painting brushes in a kit, store the brushes with bristles up.
