Step 1: the base

First, I add some base on the eyelids with a sponge - It you are comfortable painting the eyelids with a one stroke as well then you can skip this part and jump straight to the next step.

Step 2: the shape of the feathers

I then load a 3/4" angled brush with the darkest colour on the long tip of the brush. I start with the largest loop in the middle and then proceed to paint the ones on the sides. I finish the last loop so that it is positioned in a flattering way near the eyes with a curve going upwards on the sides just like an eyeliner.

Step 3: shape of the bird

With a slightly smaller angled brush, I then proceed to paint the head and neck of the peacock. The neck is not symmetrical on both sides, but the pointy tip is centered in the middle of the bridge of my nose to balance in the design. I then add orange spots in the middle of the feathers, a beak and and eye. Even without the line work you can see that it is already starting to look like a peacock.

Step 5: basic outlining

With a round brush, I then move on to painting the main outlines. I take care to have the line work pointing towards the centre focal point between my eyes.

Step 6: more line work

I then paint the rest of the linework with the structure of the feathers - even though they are very simplified and don´t look very realistic, it is easy to see that this is supposed to be a peacock.

Step 6: optional details

You can leave the peacock like in the previous step - or you can enhance it with some stencilled details, highlights and bright dots like I have done here. And some super sparkly glitter, of course!

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial - can´t wait to see your version of this :-)
