Pastel Paint Party!

Spring has finally sprung (so the calendar says) unfortunately we can still see signs of that white stuff in some areas but the green grass, budding flowers and fresh new smell to the air is sneaking in slowly and the cabin fever is starting to subside. Pastel palettes with their soft inviting colors always remind me of spring, so I let my daughters and a couple of their friends loose with the pastel palettes to shake off the winter blues.

We’ll check back with the girls in a bit to see how they do, for now let’s take a look at some of our pastels.

Most of the major brands have a pastel palette or individual pastel cakes.

From left to right we have Pastel Palettes from TAG, Paradise and Kryolan each one giving us various shades to choose from. Perhaps you don’t want a full palette from any brand, so the opportunity to purchase individual colors is always a great option.

When using a pastel color do remember that they are softer shades so you may not see the deep pigment to which you are accustomed on a classic face paint color but they certainly have plenty to offer. Whenever dealing with a paint that may seem light at first, let it dry for a moment and apply another coat. Pastels are great for adding detail to a flower or soft blue water for your mermaid face paint.

Here are two sample photos of how the pastel paint looks on the skin.

Paradise Pastel Snazaroo Pastel

The first picture is the Paradise palette and the second is Snazaroo pastel, we see some similar colors but each palette offering one or two different options than the other. These would be great for an Easter egg face paint don’t you think?

For you face painting parents out there… F.Y.I. these girls kept busy for nearly two hours painting themselves and each other, cleaning off one design and making room for the next barely making a peep. Just sayin’ if you need a little down time girls and face paint make for a quiet afternoon.

These budding artists did pretty well producing butterflies, flowers and full face designs. Bottom line, they had a great time and we got to see some cute ideas from young minds with face paints.
