Speed Festival Face Painting Designs with Georgiana Ciocan Webinar

Speed Festival Face Painting Designs with Georgiana Ciocan Webinar

Festival season is here, and if you've ever felt the pressure of a long line of excited kids (and let's be honest, a few dads who "just want Spider-Man for the kid"), you know that speed matters. In this webinar, Georgiana Ciocan — known as Lizzyland Face Painting — shares her go-to fast festival face painting designs that are bold, colorful, and quick enough to keep that queue moving.

About the Artist

Georgiana Ciocan is a professional face painter originally from Romania, now based in the UK. She's known for her vibrant, character-driven designs and her infectious energy at festivals and events. Georgiana teaches face painting classes internationally, including her popular butterfly class featuring fourteen butterfly designs. You can find her on Instagram at @lizzylandfacepainting. Her philosophy is simple: use bold colors, keep it cute, and make every single person leave your chair with a smile.

Products Featured in This Webinar

Design 1: The Cute Ladybug

Georgiana kicked things off with her favorite — an adorable ladybug placed right on the forehead. She started by painting the head with a large filbert brush and a beige cream color, then built out heart-shaped wings using GTX Rodeo Red, which she calls the best red on the market. The key here is going big and bold so the design pops from a distance.

For the outline and details — the body, arms, antennas, and little spots — she switched to a round brush number four. Georgiana gave the ladybug personality with a cute upside-down nose and a big smile, plus swirly antennas that add a playful feel. She finished the simple version with pink blush on the cheeks using a filbert brush and a neon green outline to make everything pop.

Then she leveled it up. Using an impact petal brush with a gray-and-black triple dip, she added flowers around the ladybug and some wispy lines with the Essentials No. 2 round brush. The simple version takes about two minutes on the job. The upgraded version with flowers runs three to four minutes — still fast enough for a busy festival line.

Design 2: Fast Spider-Man Eye Design

Next up, Georgiana tackled the design every face painter knows is coming — Spider-Man. But instead of a full face, she kept it to a quick eye design, perfect for dads who say they're "just doing it for the kid." Sure they are.

She used a 5/8 angled brush from Face Painting Hub loaded with a one-stroke combo, filled in the eye area, then added GTX Rodeo Red around it. The black web lines went on with a round brush number six, using thin-thick-thin pressure for clean lines. Her secret weapon? Adding a tribal element on the side because, as she puts it, those dads actually do want the face paint — they just might be a little shy about it. A tiny spider on the neck sealed the deal. The whole design is fast, fun, and gets a laugh every time.

Design 3: The Grumpy Bunny

With Easter on the way, Georgiana debuted a brand-new design she created just for this webinar — the Grumpy Bunny. This little guy is stuck in the mud, looking for his carrots, and he is not happy about it.

She started with the Face Painting Hub Everyday Palette (the school combo of black, gray, and white) and a 5/8 angled brush to lay down the pear-shaped head and ears. Then she switched to a brown-and-beige combo to create the muddy ground around the bunny. The trick to making him grumpy? Move the mouth down instead of doing the usual smile, and give him some long, annoyed-looking eyes with furrowed eyebrows.

A little carrot at the corner of the eye using an orange combo, some green grass, and a pink nose brought the whole thing together. Georgiana pointed out this design works great for boys who are tired of seeing only unicorns and Stitch at events. And as she reminded everyone, quoting Kathy Vergara: there are no mistakes in art — just part of the design.

Design 4: The Swish Butterfly

This one had everyone buzzing. Georgiana showed off her signature "swish butterfly" technique using the Essentials by Samantha Helen swish brush — a 3/4 inch dagger brush that creates stunning wing shapes in a single stroke.

She loaded the brush with a black-and-gold combo and demonstrated how to find the right angle (about forty-five to sixty degrees), press down, and sweep around the eye. The magic is in the brush — one press-and-drag motion creates an entire wing. She flipped the brush around to fill the inner wing area, creating a shape that had viewers genuinely amazed.

Georgiana showed multiple variations: a full butterfly with symmetrical wings, a side butterfly, and different wing shapes — all achievable in seconds. If you don't have the swish brush, she suggested experimenting with a large filbert brush or a 5/8 angled brush to get a similar effect. This face painting technique is all about testing and finding what works for you.

Design 5: Cute Easter Dinosaur

For the final design, Georgiana tackled a request that many painters avoid — the dinosaur. But this was no ordinary dino. This was a baby dinosaur hatching out of a cracked egg, and it turned out to be the perfect Easter crossover design.

Using the new TAG Body Art palette (created in collaboration with Tamar David), she built the dinosaur's head and body entirely with a 5/8 angled brush and one-stroke technique. She added a cracked egg underneath, green leaves for the background, and then outlined everything with a round brush. When the audience requested a girl dinosaur, she happily adapted with a pink bow — because as she said, adapting on the fly is what face painters do best.

She finished with a neon outline and reminded everyone: don't leave negative space empty. Fill it with swirls, stencil work, or details to make the design look complete.

Georgiana's Top Festival Tips

Throughout the webinar, Georgiana dropped some gems for working fast festival face painting events. Go bold with color — you want designs that are visible from a distance and look vibrant in photos. Use one-stroke and split cake techniques to cover area quickly. Don't be afraid to keep things simple when the line is long, but add details when you have breathing room. And most importantly, have fun with it. Your energy is what attracts the crowd. If people enjoy chatting with you and feel your vibe, they'll bring their friends.

What's Coming Up

Georgiana will be back for a face painting classes master class on festival design techniques in July and again in October for Kawaii Halloween designs. Keep an eye on the FacePaint.com webinar page so you don't miss out!
