Graffiti Grinch by Linnéa

Graffiti Grinch

A really cool character for Christmas is the Grinch! I wanted to do a Grinch design since the kids seems to like the new movie as much as I do. I just love the graffiti style with bricks, stars and comic words, so I turned the Grinch into a real bad boy. ;-)

Step 1: Head base.

Take some shimmering green and a sponge for the eyelids. Make the head for the Grinch using a 1/2" angled brush and a green one stroke. Make sure that you got the darkest colour on the outside. Leave some space for Santa´s hat.

Step 2: Santa´s hat.

Paint Santa´s hat on top of the Grinch head with a red colour, and add some brown for the darker parts. Finish with the white.

Step 3: Bricks.

Use a 3/4" brush and a orange coloured one stroke to make the bricks. Make sure leave some space between the bricks.

 Step 4: Outline.

Use a #2 round brush and waxy black to outline the Grinch, hat and bricks. Use a waxy white to do the eyes. Paint the mouth, nose and some big hairy eyebrows.

Step 5: Highlights.

Use a #1 round brush and a waxy white for all the highlights. Don´t forget to put highlight on the bricks as well. I also used a little bit of lime green for the eyebrows so they really pop.

Step 6: Graffiti style.

Now it is time for some graffiti! You can freebase a lot here! Use some cool stencils and colours that really pop. I used neon paints and a #4 round brush to make colour splash and some graffiti texts, such as "I love Santa" and "Grinch was here". I wrote the text with a darker paint first and then the lighter on top, I think it looks a little bit more 3D then. Add some hashtags, stars and some graffiti words in black.

Now you are ready to be the coolest bad ass Grinch at the next Christmas party! Happy painting!
