I recently purchased the Ben Nye Lumiere Grande Colour Palette from facepaint.com and I was so impressed with the product that I thought that I should share it with all of my fellow face painters. In this review, I’m going to tell you a little about this highly pigmented pressed powder palette and what it could be used for.
What It Looks Like
These powders are so bright! In the image, the brightest colors are on the left arm and the softer colors are on the right arm. The “cosmic” blue is probably the most pigmented color in the palette. It is beautiful when paired with “ice” (the bottom most color on the right arm) or silver (the top most color on the right arm). Every color has a slight shimmer to it, so they are ideal for girl designs and makeup. The pigment almost completely covers the skin, so you do not need to put a base down in order to create a full design. However, adding the powder on top of white or a similarly colored paint will just make the design more vibrant.
How It Performs
Powders are more water resistant than regular water based paints, so this palette is perfect for summer days. I tested the water resistance of the powders by holding my arm under warm water for 10 seconds. None of the colors ran or smudged at all until wiped. Water based paints would drip immediately if held under warm running water. If you live in a warm city, then you should definitely invest in this palette.
When To Use It
This palette is perfect for several occasions. Again, it is perfect for a hot day. It is also perfect for girls parties because of the slight shimmer in every powder. The pink powder is also perfect for blush and lip color. You could just add some teardrops and dots to make the perfect mask or princess crown! Lastly, I would definitely recommend this palette to anybody who does any type of specialty makeup or private sessions. The powders in this palette will add that extra “wow” factor that your clients will definitely appreciate. Plus the water resistance of the powders are perfect for those clients that are going out to festivals or other events.
Below, I will show you some examples of specialty makeup that I accomplished using the Ben Nye Lumiere Grande Colour Palette. The first two designs were powders layered on top of water based paints, and the second two designs have the powders directly on top of the skin.
I would definitely give this product a 5/5 stars. They are pigmented, they resist water, and they can give any design that “wow” factor. Happy painting!
