Thank you to Zuri, and to all who tuned in to watch this webinar! Stay tuned for upcoming webinars!

Most of these designs will be done with the Kraze FX neon palette, so let's get started! I'm using the yellow first, and we're going to make a New Year's Eve mask. This mask, I got the idea from the FacePaint.com blog, and it was posted in 2014, so we've been doing blogs for a long time!

New Year's Eve Design #1: NYE Mask

NYE Neon Design

So I'm starting with the neon yellow, and I'm making a mask with it. Next, I'm going to use orange and I'm just using my round brush and this whole look is done with only a round brush! I'm putting the orange over near the eye, so it's going to be a very colorful mask, and it's great for beginners. In the middle, I'm going to make some dots, and also add some on the bottom and the sides as well.

Next I'm going to use neon pink, and I'll be using the same brush, which is a #5 brush from Loew-Cornell.I'm going to add some dots in the middle, and on the sides. Next, I'll do some swirls right on the forehead, and they do not need to be perfect. Now I'm going to use the purple neon and the same brush. I just dip my brush into water to clean it, so I can load it with another color.

I'll just go right underneath the mask with the neon purple. In the middle of the forehead, I'm also going to make five teardrops. We're also going to make three teardrops on the side of the mask. Now we're going to go back to the yellow, and I'm going to use a smaller round brush, a #4.

We're going to do two swirls on the side, and another swirl. Next we're going to make little teardrops on the bottom of the mask. Then we'll do three teardrops on the forehead, so we're layering our teardrops.

Next we'll be using TAG white face paint, and we're going to add some more detail. I'm adding white teardrops as my detail. We'll also add white face paint around the eyes. As you can see, this mask doesn't have to be precise, which makes it great for beginners! We're pretty much done, but if you want to add any other details to it, that's great, because that means you just made it into your own original design!

New Year's Eve Design #2: NYE Crown

NYE Crown Design

For our next design, we are going to use a split cake. So I built my own split cake with the Kraze FX neon face paints. It was very easy to cut up and place right into the container. I'm going to go in with my 3/4" angle brush, dip it into water, and load the brush with the split cake. I also want the darkest color on the outside of my brush.

So this will be like a princess crown, but I'm going to add a New Year's twist to it! So I'll start with a big hump at the forehead, and two smaller humps above the eyebrows. I'm going to bring the mask all the way down, by the sides of the eyes, trying to make sure the sides are even.

Then I'm going to load my brush with the same split cake, and I'm going to add another layer right at the forehead, and make two more humps. Now I'm going to go with white, and I'm using my #3 Loew-Cornell round brush, and I'm going to put the 2020 right in the middle of her forehead.

I'm going to now take my star stencil, and use my dauber to load it up with white face paint. We're going to put stars right on the side. I'm going to place my stencil on the side of the forehead and start dabbing. The paint is a little wet underneath, so it might not be a perfect stencil. If the paint was on the skin, it would've been dry by now, but on a practice board, it takes much longer to dry.

Next we're going to use neon yellow, and we're going to do some small teardrops around the crown. These are going to go right in the middle of the forehead, and we're going to do three teardrops. We're also going to add some teardrops around the 2020, and we'll do about five of them.

Next we're going to use white, and we're going to use the same brush, which is a #4 Loew-Cornell. At the bottom of the mask, I'll do some teardrops which will look like fireworks. I'll also add some more teardrops in the middle of the forehead, right underneath the 2020 design. Also add some stars to give more detail.

Now I'm going to use my small #1 brush and we're going to use blue face paint from the Kraze FX split cake palette. I'm going to load up with the darkest blue from the cake, and outline the 2020. Going back with the white, I'll just do some dots around the eyes.

We're pretty much done with that, but again, if you can add any type of detail to add, it will be your own design!

New Year's Eve Design #3: Fireworks Skyline

NYE Skyline Face Paint Design

This design, is what you could call a half face design. Next we're going to use this handmade split cake. I took all the neons and made a big split cake. So I'm going to spray the whole split cake, take my sponge, and go back and forth. so you pick up all the colors. I'm going to go and dab around the forehead. You can just keep dabbing until you're happy with your application.

Next I'm going to clean my brush, and we're going to use TAG black face paintwith a #3 brush. We're now going to be painting buildings. I want them a little slanted, so I'm going to go up, and do a little rectangle. I'm going to continue making rectangles on the side of the forehead. We'll do more buildings on the other side of the forehead. Then we'll bring a line down right in the middle of the buildings, and then we'll go across that line, to make windows. Then we're going to fill in the rest of the design.

In the middle, we'll do a blue neon using the same brush. We're doing fireworks, and it's sort of like making teardrops, but in reverse. Then we're going to use orange to add some more fireworks.

Next, I will use neon yellow to make one big firework right in the middle of her forehead. We'll add 20 on one side of the face, and 20 on the other side of the face. On top of that, I'm going to add neon yellow. I also added some birds into the design to give it more detail.

I'm going to take some white, and add some more details, and we're almost done with this look! Now we're going to highlight the buildings. Then I have this neon glitter from Andrea Cole, so I'm just going to take my finger and add it right on the side by the cheeks, as well as at the top of the forehead.

New Year's Eve Design #4: Fireworks & Champagne

NYE Face Paint Design

This next look, I created this confetti cake. I got a bunch of split cakes that were running really low, so I just threw them together. I'm going to take my round sponge, and go back and forth. We're just going to make three circles on the side of the forehead.

Again, we'll be doing fireworks. but first I'm going to make my champagne glasses on the side of the cheek. In the middle, we're going to go with the neon yellow and fill it in. We're going to do some fireworks at the top of the forehead, just above the eyebrow. I'm going to take neon green, and make another firework. I'll use orange to make some more fireworks. We're going to add 2020 on the side of the face, using the yellow neon. Add some dots around the eye, and some dots coming out of the champagne glasses.

Now take white face paint and highlight the fireworks. Then we'll take that neon green glitter, and add it to our design. Our design is now ready!

New Year's Eve Design #5: Black & White

Black and White NYE Face Paint Design

This one is more formal, which would be good for corporate events, or just a nice adult New Year's Eve party. I'm going to use a black and white split cake from the Kraze FX split cake palette.

We're going to use the metallic grey color to make a curvy M above the eyes and forehead. I'm going to take my flat brush, and load it up with all of the colors from the split cake. We're going to do three humps at the forehead. We're also going to do two humps down by the side of the eyes.

Then we're going to use the same split cake and take only the black to do three teardrops on the side and three teardrops on the top. We're going to make a swirl in the middle of the forehead. We're going to do a swirl at the top, and we'll do one on each side of the forehead.

We're going to finish the top with dots to connect it. I'll add some more teardrops to the design to give it more detail. The more detail you put on, the better it will look!

Zuri FX Q&A

Q: How long have you been face painting?
A: About 5 years. Not that long, but what I did before, was makeup. I was a makeup artist for 12 years, but I fell in love with face paint because I think makeup application is a bit boring. Face painting is more rewarding.

Q: Is face painting your full time job?
A: I do kids' face painting, I do theater makeup, I do special FX, and I blog for facepaint.com, and that's pretty much it! I'm also a soccer coach.

Q: How do you wash the finger sponge?
A: I just use Dawn dish soap and clean it like that. I just throw it in the sink, and it comes out pretty well!

Q: How did you create the confetti cake?
A: I had a palette, I believe it was my Leanne palette, and it was really to the pan. So I just scooped it all up and put it in a round container.
