Using Kraze Dome Strokes: Unicorn Face Paint Design by Kellie Burrus

I just got the new Kraze FX Domed Split Cakes, and for this design, I am using Kraze FX Domed Stroke in Essential Rainbow and Sundown. Both domed split cakes have beautiful, bright colors and staying power. But the best thing about the Kraze FX Domed Strokes is that they're domed in the middle! This means that water will not pool in the middle of the pan, and will therefore save you a lot of paint!

Using Kraze Dome Strokes in Essential Rainbow

Since unicorns have arrived on the face painting scene they have been in high demand. These beautiful ponies are here to stay! There are lots of varieties and versions of unicorns. Here is my  quick on the job rainbow, sassy banged unicorn that my friend has playfully named it :). I hope you enjoy.

Step 1

Load a small or medium anglebrush with a one stroke cake keeping the darker color on the bottom to help create the illusion of a shadow.  (I used my Kraze ‘Sundown’ one stroke). Create 2 cone type shapes on top of each other to create a horn. I have mine angled to the side a little in this step by step.

Step 2

Lightly Sponge some gold over the eyes and down the top bridge of the nose. Create white ears sitting on the outer edges of the eyebrows and coming in to a point at the top of the inner eyebrows.

Step 3

Load your angle brushwith your rainbow one stroke cake (here I have used Kraze ‘Essential Rainbow’). Line the brush up with the lower part of one of the ears, this is where you will start to create your side bang.

Step 4

Using your angle brush loaded with your rainbow one stroke, press and push your brush up towards the top of the ear, then start coming back down and over the bottom of the horn. Finish the rest of the part of the bang by tapering off and not pressing/using the whole brush. After that, just take the tip part of your loaded brush and fit in a small curl going in the opposite direction. Create hair and shape with the brush over the eyebrows, and around the eyes. Also push the edges of your brush into the white ears to create the “inside of the ear”.

Step 5

Load a round brushwith white paint. Add shiny highlights to the largest bump of the bangs. Highlight one side of the horn, add white dots and a starburst and teardrops around the eyes.

Step 6

Load a round brushwith black paint and outline the inside of the ears. Starting at the beginning of the bangs, create a thin to thick line that tapers off in the middle. Start a new line with the top of the curl at the other side of the bang and taper off again.

Step 7

Load a round brush with black paint and define the lower curl, outline the design and add some squiggly lines around the eyes. Keep with a thick to thin  line.

Step 8

Add some red lipstick, Glitter Cream and fairy dust and you are all set!
