Tutorial: Hello Kitty Inspired Sugar Skull

Hello Kitty Sugar Skull For those days when you get tired of doing the same old hello kitty over and over again. Mix it up by using some stencils, adding different elements or… you can turn it into a sugar skull!

This sugar skull is a really fast design, so it can still be used at any of your regular gigs.

How easy is it? Let me show you :)

What you’ll need:

  1. Paradise White
  2. Paradise Yellow
  3. Global Fun Stroke Paris
  4. Paradise Lime
  5. Global Dark Blue
  6. Wolfe Black
  7. Glitter
  8. #4 Round Brush
  9. Filbert brush
  10. Always Wicked Sponge

The Application:

Hello Kitty Sugar SkullApply Paradise White with your Always Wicked Sponge. You will be making a hello kitty shaped face.

Hello Kitty Sugar SkullLoad your Filbert Brush with Paradise Orange and paint in 4 teeth on the upper lip.

Load your Filbert Brush with Global Fun Stroke Paris and paint the bow. Be sure the darker color is on the outside.

Hello Kitty Sugar SkullLoad your Filbert Brush with Paradise Yellow and Paint circle shapes on each eyelid and paint 2 half circles in the corner of each. Add glitter to the yellow.

Load your #4 Round Brush using 2 colors from your Global Fun Stroke Paris and create flour petals on the corner of each kitty ear, coming out of the yellow flour center you already painted.

Hello Kitty Sugar SkullLoad your #4 Round Brush with Global Dark Blue and paint 2 sets of swirls and small teardrops on each cheek. You can add a little Paradise white to your paintbrush that is still loaded with Global Dark Blue  and paint in  a heart shape in the middle of the kitty forehead. Add Glitter to the heart.

Continue using a mixture of Global Dark Blue and Paradise white loaded on your #4 Round Brush and paint flour petals around both eyes as pictured.

Hello Kitty Sugar SkullLoad your #4 Round Brush with Paradise Lime and paint in an upside down heart shape on the nose. Add glitter to the heart.

Hello Kitty Sugar SkullThe final step is outlining. Load your #4 Round Brush with Wolfe Black and outline the kitty face, teeth, bow, hearts and flowers on the kitty ears. Add lipstick to finish it off.

All done!

You can make this design even faster by choosing to use less colors and applying glitter to the entire deigns at once instead of individual elements.
