Tutorial: Bright & Sunny Sun Mask

sun face

Sometimes less is more, and many people will want their face painted, just not all over. This is great for the warmer weather as its more tolerant to heat.

Tools:

Medium #4 Round Brush
Small Round #1 (1/16″) Brush

Colors used in this picture:

White Face Paint
Yellow Face Paint
Orange Face Paint

Application:

1. Starting with the yellow face paint and the medium round brush, paint a swirl in the middle of the forehead.

2. Paint teardrop shapes around the swirl to create the rays of the tun. Add some tear drops around the corner of the eyes. Here is a tutorial that goes more in depth on the teardrop shape and how to create.

3. Next, add orange on top of the yellow and mix in with the yellow swirl. Paint lines and dots over the design.

4. Finally, outline the design using the small round brush and the white face paint. Outline the rays of the sun, and add small white dots  on top of the orange dots.

Add glitter to the design to really make it stand out.  Photos don’t seem to capture how sparkly and pretty it really makes the colors and design look.  To add glitter you can simply dip your finger in water, then dip into the glitter. Place glitter with your finger by gently tapping where you want it to go.
