Wina Shelley of Party Picassos Face and Body Painting started into face painting almost by accident. She was an art student at the American Academy of Art when she was asked to help out at a church festival. From there she started doing the occasional festival or event.
At first face painting was a way to make a little extra income and she typically had less than 10 jobs a year. When her youngest son started Kindergarten Wina decided to leave her graphics art position and turned her hobby into a job. Face painting became her business and Party Picassos was born.
Face painting is a perfect outlet for Wina as she gets to express her creativity while spending time, and interacting with children. She loves showing them how she breaks down the designs into simple shapes. Then when they see the final design the look of shock and awe on their faces is her greatest reward.
Wina continually seeks to improve her skills and has taken courses from some of the great names in face and body painting such as Nick Wolfe, Jay Bautista, and Pashur. She continually uses herself or her son as templates for new designs, new paints, or just to keep in practice. Her skill and passion have brought her beyond a lot of the typical party painters and her talents have been recognized by several online face painting competitions.
As she pushes herself to improve and grow, her company has also grown beyond just birthday parties and church functions. The talents of Wina has also been called on for corporate events, professional sports teams, major hospitals and several business and chains.
